  • Implementation of a safety education system based on an active LMS to prevent serious accidents that could be prevented by education

    
    

    In our research project, we intend to develop a safety education system that will address prevent serious and preventable accidents by providing education in the three fields of child injury prevention, environmental safety engineering, and emergency nursing education.
    
    In other words, we would like to explore how a learning management system (LMS) such as Moodle with learning contents for safety education in each field could be used to good effect. Moodle's functions and interface will be enhanced to be the online learning platform that is the core of the safety education system. Our Moodle will be equipped with a voice user interface and a chatbot type interface to be used in practical situations. We also plan to develop Moodle Analytics models to estimate learners' activity and an engine to estimate learners' mental state.
    
    With these features, we will develop a safety education system that can be applied to fields like kids safety, chemical experiments and emergency nursing.

  Three stages of safety education

  • 一般的に学習課題の分類として、「言語情報」「知的技能」「態度」などがある。

    これらの分類を安全教育に当てはめてみると、各人が満たすべき段階として、以下の３段階があると思われる。
    

    1. 知識があること（危険であることを知らない、という状態を脱する）
    2. 対応力があること（知識はあるが実際の対応力・解決力がない、という状態を脱する）
    3. 態度が身についていること（対応力はあるが面倒なので放置してしまう、とならない）

    救急看護教育の分野では「態度」は対象外（職業人としての看護師が「やればできるのにしようとしない」とはならない）なのを除き、「知識」「対応力」「態度」のすべてが習得されてはじめて安全教育が完了したといえる。

    When these classifications are applied to safety education, there are three outcomes that each learner should satisfy :

    • Outcome 1 :  Knowledge of the risks involved
    • Outcome 2 :  Skills to deal with the risks

    • Outcome 3 :  Positive attitudes to prepare for the risks

    It can be said that safety education is successful only after knowledge, skill, and positive attitudes are all acquired. (The exception is Outcome 3 for emergency nursing education; professional nurses tend to have a positive attitude by nature.)
